Shama'il al-Muhammadiya, Book of Prophet of Allah ﷺ Performing Wudu At The Time Of Eating
Ibn'Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) says:
"Once when Messenger of Allah Sallailahu 'Alayhi Wasallam came out of the toilet, after relieving himself from the call of nature, food was served to him. They asked if water for wudu should be brought? He replied: 'I have been commanded to perform wudu when 1 perform salaah'".
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْخَلاءِ، فَقُرِّبَ إِلَيْهِ الطَّعَامُ، فَقَالُوا: أَلا نَأْتِيكَ بِوَضُوءٍ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا أُمِرْتُ بِالْوُضُوءِ، إِذَا قُمْتُ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ.
Classification
Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) relates:
"Messenger of Allah ﷺ once, after relieving himself in the toilet, came out, and was served food. The Sahaabah inquired: 'Will you not perform wudu?'. Messenger of Allah Saliallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam replied: 'Do I have to perform salaah, that wudu must be performed?'"
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ فَأُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: أَلا تَتَوَضَّأُ؟ فَقَالَ: أَأُصَلِّي، فَأَتَوَضَّأُ.
Classification
Salmaan Faarisi (may Allah be pleased with him) says:
"I have read in-the Tauraah, that performing wudu (washing the hands) after eating increases blessings. I mentioned this to Messenger of Allah Sallailahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Wudu before and after eating (washing the hands and mouth) increases blessings."
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ (ح) وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ الْجُرْجَانِيُّ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ، أَنَّ بَرَكَةَ الطَّعَامِ الْوُضُوءُ بَعْدَهُ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ، وَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِمَا قَرَأْتُ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: بَرَكَةُ الطَّعَامِ الْوُضُوءُ قَبْلَهُ، وَالْوُضُوءُ بَعْدَهُ.
