lbn 'Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that:
"Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his family spent many consecutive nights without food, because there would be no supper. The bread of Messenger of Allah ﷺ was mostly made of barley". (Sometimes bread made of wheat was also available).
