Ka'b bin Maalik (may Allah be pleased with him) says:
"It was the noble habit of Messenger of Allah ﷺn to use three fingers whilst eating and-he also licked them".

حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنِ ابْنٍ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ بِأَصَابِعِهِ، الثَّلاثِ وَيَلْعَقُهُنَّ.
