Pray before you are prayed upon

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Prayer is a key to connect to Allāh Glory be to Him. It’s a true blessing from Allāh Glory be to Him which He has given to His believing slaves.

Verily between man and between polytheism and unbelief is the negligence of prayer. – Sahih Muslim 1

How many prayers do we miss and dont even care? When Prophet ﷺ missed his `asr salah when he was fighting in a battlefield, he was upset and said

May Allāh fill their graves and houses with fire, as they have kept us so busy that we could not offer the middle prayer till the sun had set; and that prayer was the ‘Asr prayer. – Sahih al-Bukhari 2

What about us? How many prayers have we missed and don’t even care? Suleiman ﷺ when he missed his prayer while he was inspecting the horses, he immediately turned to Allāh Glory be to Him in repentance  (see Surah Sad 38:33 3). How about us, how many times have we asked Allāh Glory be to Him to forgive us for the prayers that we missed?

What about Surah Al-Muddathir where Allāh Glory be to Him says, meaning

[Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other. About the criminals, [And asking them], “What put you into Saqar?” They will say, “We were not of those who prayed – Surah al-Muddathir 74:39-43 4

We read ayahs of Qur’an Allāh Glory be to Him and turn away without putting them in to action, here is another reminder for such believing men and women;

And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord but turns away from them and forgets what his hands have put forth? Indeed, We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if you invite them to guidance – they will never be guided, then – ever. – Surah al-Kahf 18:57 5

This is a short reminder for myself and Muslim ummah who have either completely abandoned the prayer or too lazy to stand before Allāh Glory be to Him.

May Allāh Glory be to Him guide us to the straight path, accept our prayers, enter us in to jannat al-firdous without reckoning – Sahih al-Bukhari 6 and grant us joy of looking at His Face on the Day of judgement
